The Big Scribble writing assignments

The Big Scribble was a writing contest for current high school and college journalists that was put together by author and former Sports Illustrated writer Jeff Pearlman and fellow author Jonathan Eig during the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. There were a total of six judges included in the contest along with Pearlman and Eig. Those judges were accomplished journalists such as David Maraniss, Candace Buckner, Mirin Fader and Evan F. Moore.

The contest lasted five weeks, with different writing prompts for the journalists to write about. The prompts included: writing a profile on somebody you know, a food review, the pandemic's impact on hair and an obituary. Below are a few of my writing entries during the contest.
